Diversity Programs in Engineering (DPE) was selected to receive a Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics and Engineering Mentoring (PAESMEM) while I was Associate Dean for Diversity and Faculty Development in the College of Engineering. DiOnetta Jones and Zellman Warhaft, although they left DPE by the time the award was given, should really also be in this picture! The official press release is here. What an honor! It was quite an honor to receive this award before turning 60 (barely). Now I'm really going to have to work to earn it!

The Silver Award, presented by three sections of the American Geophysical Union, recognized my international collaborations, software for the community, and free online teaching materials. I was honored to join an august group of previous award winners, three of whom I have previously coauthored papers with!

It is a real honor to receive this award. Zellman Warhaft designed the modern Diversity Programs in Engineering (DPE) and did all the hard work, making it possible for me to look good when I succeeded him as Associate Dean of the College.
